Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 14, 2026

Tactra is designed as a private, local-first media remote. It connects the Apple devices you own to Home Assistant and optional direct providers you configure. Tactra does not require a Tactra account, operate an analytics backend, or sell personal data.

Information Tactra handles

To provide its features, the app may handle:

  • Home Assistant server addresses, instance names, and connection preferences.
  • Home Assistant access or refresh tokens and imported long-lived access tokens.
  • Device names, capabilities, availability, sources, media state, artwork URLs, and activity configuration supplied by Home Assistant or a direct provider.
  • App preferences such as selected targets, favorites, haptics, routing, and appearance.
  • Diagnostic information that you choose to view, copy, or share when requesting support.

Where information is stored

Connection tokens are stored in Apple Keychain. App configuration is stored on your device. If you explicitly enable Tactra's Apple sync options, eligible preferences may use iCloud key-value storage and eligible connection secrets may use iCloud Keychain. Those Apple services are optional and governed by your Apple account and Apple’s terms.

Tactra does not send this information to a Tactra-operated cloud service.

Network communication

Tactra communicates with the Home Assistant servers and direct local endpoints you configure. Home Assistant may itself connect to other services according to your Home Assistant configuration. Artwork or media URLs supplied by your Home Assistant instance may be requested to display now-playing information.

Home Assistant app sign-in opens your Home Assistant server and exchanges authorization data directly with that server. The public tactra.dev app identity is used by Home Assistant to validate Tactra's native callback URL.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Tactra does not include third-party advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking, or a Tactra-operated analytics service. App Store distribution and Apple platform services may produce operational information under Apple’s privacy terms.

Diagnostics and support

Diagnostics remain on your device unless you choose to copy or share them. Before posting diagnostics publicly, review them and remove server addresses, entity names, room names, or other details you consider sensitive. Never share Home Assistant tokens, passwords, or private keys.

Your choices

You can disconnect or remove saved Home Assistant connections inside Tactra, disable optional Apple sync, revoke Tactra access from Home Assistant, and remove direct endpoints. Apple Keychain or iCloud data may require removal through Tactra or your Apple settings in addition to deleting the app.

Children’s privacy

Tactra is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a Tactra-operated service.

Changes

We may update this policy as Tactra changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
